This year the kickoff was held at the Loveland Stage Company. The festivities opened with a dance number by the Loveland Stage Company Dancers who did a tap dance number to the catchy Glenn Miller song “In The Mood”. Then Jodi Inabnitt, Loveland Chamber President, read a bit of the history of the Loveland Lady tradition, after which Pastor Bill Hounshell, of New Hope Baptist Church, honored past Loveland Ladies and announced the 2012 winner, Jan Ranard, owner of Pizazz Studio. Each Valentine Lady and nominee were presented with a bouquet of flowers as they were escorted to their seat on stage by either Mayor Rob Weisgerber, Vice Mayor David Bednar, or City Manager Tom Carroll.

This year’s winning designer is Jamie Morath. The cards are available for $1.50 at Kroger, the UPS Store, Loveland Healthcare Center, Loveland Chamber, Pizazz Studio, Huntington Bank, Union Savings Bank, Historical Museum, The Lodge, and the City of Loveland. This is the first time this event has been here; for the past few years it has been in Columbus, but with the increased attendance from Cincinnati, it was decided to move it here. It was held at the brand-spanking new Griffin Hall at NKU on October 22.

Podcamp itself started in Boston by Chris Brogan as a way to bring together people interested in various forms of new media – social media, podcasting, video, audio, websites. The popularity has spread throughout the country and each city that wants the event hosts their own (there’s no official team that comes in and plans it).

Don and I have attended several Podcamps, in Columbus and Nashville, and I have been blessed to speak at both of them. Don did his first presentation this year. He talked about the proper uses for QR Codes. I spoke about how to take better video.

Here are some clips from our presentations:

This video was produced for the Loveland Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2011 Business Expo on October 27, 2011. It aired during lunch, and on occasion during the event.

I am honored that Jodi Inabnitt, President of the Chamber, asked me to create this video for the lunch. I had a total blast creating it and learning some new special effects in order to evoke feelings of fun and excitement to carry people through lunch and into the expo. Of course this video is not one person’s achievement; this video could not have been possible without the generous gifts of time given to me by everyone represented in this video, and I thank you all profusely!

I’d also like to thank Luke Hitchcock for creating such an inspirational logo for the event, and I look forward to working with you again for more phenomenal graphic design work.

If you market your business, you should be marketing with video. If you don’t think video can help grow your business, or you don’t know HOW video can help your business, then please call me for a free consultation and I can share with you several ways video can help BOOST your business!

If you need any of these services, I can personally, professionally, AND CONFIDENTLY recommend any of these people to give you top quality service!

I recently finished an exciting project I’ve been working on for quite some time. The whole video is made up of stock video clips. However, this particular project was edited as it was designed, meaning, we didn’t have a set script to follow ahead of time.

It was a work in progress most of the time. We knew the basic story and emotions we wanted to convey; it was just a matter of finding clips and putting them together to convey that message. So as I searched the clips, the site I found, Pond 5 (affiliate link), allows you to download a low res version of the clips you want. So along the way I downloaded about 30-40 clips that I worked with until I had the final video as I wanted. It ended up being 21 clips, including sound effects and music, that I then purchased.

Seeing as I wasn’t just looking for specific clips to place in a video, being able to use draft clips to create my project then replace them with the high res ones, enabled me to fluidly create my project, getting a pretty good feel for what it would look like, then purchasing just the clips I needed without having to buy clips I won’t need, or changed my mind on. Of course the video clips are much lower quality and have a watermark on them, and the sound effects and music have an audio watermark, but for design and creation purposes, it didn’t matter. Even my client didn’t mind.

This video shows how I replaced all those draft clips with the HD ones without having to, in essence, re-edit the entire video. It’s pretty much cut and paste.

I always say, “the most important part of video is audio.” If (WHEN) you’re creating videos just using camera mic, if the viewer can’t hear you, they’re leaving. Even if you’re picture is a little dark, but the audio is good, the audience can tell what’s going on. The other way around–good video but bad audio–doesn’t work. Try it watching television sometime.

That’s why it’s important to get a camera that has an external audio jack. The Kodak Zi8 does, which is why I highly recommend it for people getting started in video. There are occasions for just using the camera mic, for shooting quick and easy videos, but if you want to make your videos stand out from the crowd, the quality of even a cheap external mic can be a big improvement.

Check this video out to see the difference between camera mic and external mic audio. Then, check out my store to purchase a Kodak Zi8 and a wired lapel mic.

People do business with people they know like and trust; that trust is built through communication, and we communicate more through body language.

I gave this 10 minute presentation to a networking group recently. It’s about how people do business with people they know like and trust; that trust is built through communication, and we communicate more through body language. Words attribute 7% of our communication, where body language accounts for 55%. That’s over half!

So guess what marketing tool communicates the best: VIDEO!!

Video captures not only body language, but eye contact as well, which is also critical to building trust. By involving as many of the senses as we can, and video involves them all, you increase the chances of your message being remembered–true communication. Studies show people retain 10% of what they read, 20% of what they hear, but 50% of what they read and hear. The power of video comes from not only capturing all those elements and involving all the senses, but video also adds the element of emotion. And when you engage your audience through emotion, then you are truly starting establish trust, which builds the relationship.

Please leave me a comment below about how you communicate. Have you found a greater response to your videos?
